When you wake up and realize that you're 28 29 (yes I really typed 28 at first!), the end of 2015 is near and your nieces will be turning 8 and 14 in just a few short weeks. Now that's a reality check if I ever saw one. Where in the heck has time gone?!

When did I become an adult?

It's crazy to me how one day you're sitting in your bedroom in that awkward teenage phase wishing and wanting to be older, like your sister or the older college girls shopping at the mall and the next you're the older girl that maybe someone is looking up to.

Now not to say that I am that older "cool" girl (although I'd like to think I am) but my nieces sure make me feel that way sometimes. To go back to your childhood and see life through those tiny eyes again... oh what I would do for that. Not a care in the world.

Why is it so easy for us to go through life day by day and wish we were in someone else's shoes or wish that the day could have just been a little bit better?

Why is it so hard to live in the moment?

This life we have is precious. The memories we make, the laughs we hear, the conversations we have, the family we sometimes take for granted.... everything.

Last week my aunt sent a group message about something my cousin (her son) sent her. He was reading and researching, always learning that one and raised the question that someday might be asked of you. Not to go too in depth as I keep my blog pretty casual but if you were ever asked what you saw while living, what would you say?

It got us all thinking. Do we see the problems of our day, the materialistic things, the pretty instagram photos that you wish were part of your life? Or do you see the natural beauty created for you each day?

The sky, the water, the trees, the color. Do you hear the wind and leaves rustling?

I can't say that I always do. Sometimes I go through life and let the busyness of it take over. I get frustrated, sad and overwhelmed. At the end of the day, why? I am here and I am healthy.

I would like to think that when I'm asked the question one day about what I saw, I can answer it with everything. Yes I saw the mountains, the water, the color, the sunrise and sunset and yes I loved my family and friends with my whole heart.

Have you thought about what you have seen and how you would answer? And how do you stay in tune with life and not let the craziness get the best of you?

This was not what I originally intended for this post. At all. But something within me wanted to dig a little deeper. Sometimes that's what we need.

As always, thank you so much for reading and following along!

  1. What a great post! I'd say I'm pretty stressed out right now, but the other day I just went outside and watched the wind blow, heard kids laughing and playing down the street, watching the sky create a gorgeous sunset. It was nice. And this is why I should live by the beach. I think I would notice those things more. I certainly paid more attention when I was living in Alaska. But there are days that I only see kids crying and all my frustrations right in my face. But that's a good question to ask yourself, especially when you have one of those days where you're extremely when stressed out.

    1. Thank you! I'm right there with you. I get so frustrated and end up missing everything that day... and then I wake up the next day still frustrated about the day before. Instead, I should be enjoying each day. It does get hard... but that's just life. I think we should live by the beach... wanna move? And I'd love to visit Alaska. I should have found a way to get my broke ass there when I was in college. haha.
