Reasons You Need a Faux Leather Jacket

Hey, there! So, I meant for this post to hit the blog last week, but #shithappens. I traveled to St. Louis for work (first time!), and it was no different than usual. I thought I would have a ton of energy after my site visit to write a blog post, and I didn't. Ha! You'd think I would learn by now.

But anyway - it's on the blog now - and what better than on a Monday? Fresh week, fresh start!

So we're gonna try something new. Instead of me just showing you outfits all of the time, I'm going to try and give you tips on WHY I think you need it, or why you should wear something similar. In my opinion.

If you hate this approach, let me know, we can change it up.

I recently purchased this faux leather jacket during the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale and I'm so glad I did. I can't even count how many times I've worn it since I got it (less than a month ago), it's that good. I tried to narrow it down, but here are 3 reasons why I think you should own a faux leather jacket. And it doesn't have to be this exact one either (although it's on sale for under $60!). I also love this cognac colored one... again, Nordstrom. I can't help it. So much goodness!

So, three reasons you need a faux leather jacket.

1. Short and sweet. Because they make you feel like a bad ass. Ha! But really, y'all. Even if you're the cutest, most peppy, kinda preppy girl - you'll want to feel like a bad ass at some point. Right?

2. Leather jackets immediately elevate your look. Honestly, any addition to your basic top and jeans, and BAM - you look more put together. I've said it once and I'll say it again - if you're rolling out of bed at least grab a jacket, a button down (love this one!), or something to act as an added accessory. It's all about the 3s (in clothing or home decor) - two items seem kind off, 3 make you seem like you've got it together. My motto - wingin' it, one day at a time.

3. They make for great layering, and will be a timeless piece in your wardrobe. If you are going to spend a pretty penny on something, I think it should be a basic - or a staple; something that you can wear time and time again. At least that way you will feel that you got your moneys worth. You can style a leather jacket in the fall, winter, and even a cool summer night (okay, maybe not in Texas) but definitely in other places. Picture this - distressed denim shorts, a pair of converse (I'm seeing red or gray), a white tee, and this leather jacket. Um, done. *drops mic.

Anyway, I hope y'all enjoyed today's post. I've also linked the other items shown below, if you're interested.

Let's make it a good week!

OH, one last thing. If you didn't see on my insta-stories, I've added a link on my top navigation bar for all things Valentine's Day. It will be here before we know it!

  1. 100% agree with you. I have a black faux leather jacket I've been wearing consistently for years and this past fall finally snagged a cognac real leather one (thanks Nordstrom Rack). They are the easiest way to look chic & stylish in my opinion.

  2. Absolutely LOVE this outfit! This is my go to colour combination and go to outfit combination. I just got the best faux leather jacket on sale for $50 and I can't stop wearing it!
